    Closet Clean out
    Hey All,

I still have a bunch of crap that I need to get out of my house. It is all perfectly useable, but well ... you know. If you want any of it great. If you want to throw me a couple of bucks ... even better.

    Here is the list:

13" TV/VCR/Radio combo +remote (vcr plays but does not record)
Small Blue Bistro Table with Glass Top 24" diameter x 27" High.
Carousel Spice Rack - It is cool but it does take up counter space.
Empty spinning spice rack (i.e. - no spice containers) with a really nice marble base.
Small Animal Fence (stands 24" high and is like 14' Long I believe.)
    A VCR
    50+ Plastic Shirt Hangers

Now for the giant list of gaming crap and I apologize if the item is already gone when you ask for it.

    The Hygiene Ninja strikes
I am against using LJ but this is just too important a campaign to allow it to go unannounced.

While I don't go to many cons anymore, this makes me want to.

Are there any LiveUpdate utilities available?
***This entry is a special exception to my only posting events rule***

I know there are people out there who know more than me about programming. I need a Live Update utility that I can build into an application that I develop. It is developed in Microsoft Access (please no commentary on that) but it does not have to been an Access based solution.

All I want is a utility that can check the version number of the software (however that needs to be stored) and if the current version doesn't match the version number on a web server, then it says, "New update available. Download?" If yes, then it will download the utility and apply the patch.

I can't find one and maybe I am just calling it the wrong thing. Any help is appreciated.

    Spring Cocktail Party
Spring is here and it is time for a cocktail party.
Since it is also Easter Remember that the Easter Bunny died for your sins and your for eating pleasure. Maybe there will be an epic battle between Elijah and the Easter Bunny in order to determine if there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Or maybe I misunderstand the whole concept of Easter.

Anyhow, bring yourself, bring your friends, and bring something appropriate for the “theme” of the cocktail party. Maybe gist is a better word than theme.

    When: March 25th 2005
    Time: 8pm till whenever
What to bring: Food, booze, whatever.

Please contact me for directions if you need them.

    See you then.

    Board Game Update

If you are playing board games and are willing to have me hover around you with a camera (it really isn't bad at all), please contact me. If you have my phone number, call me and if I can come over, I will. It doesn't matter who you are, or what you are playing. Documentary is my life (for now.)

    Current Progress: http://home.comcast.net/~faltor42/documentary/boardgames.htm

Last Saturday: 10 hours, 16 People, 7 (at least) different games played.

Last Sunday: 3 Hours, 6 People, 2 different games played. Note: Modern Art is strange, but enjoyable.

Where:  My House (call or email for directions)

    Date:    Saturday January 29th

When:  2PM for Board Games – 8 PM for Cocktail Party.

Why:  I have a photo project and a desire to drink with friends.

So it is time to combine my two favorite things:  Board Games and Drinking.

Who can resist that? I ask rhetorically.

    Possible Games to be Played

    Pirates of the Spanish Main

Betrayal at House on the Hill

    War of the Ring

    Cheap Ass Games

    Drinking Games

And perhaps if we are lucky – Drunken Speed

Plus whatever else anyone wants to bring.

I have at least 4 tables, plus floor.

    Tentative Schedule:

2 PM – People arrive for afternoon board gaming

People might think about bringing snacks for the day.

6 PM to 8 PM – Dinner Break (Eat in, Go out, or Bail on the Party.)

8 PM – Cocktail Party begins

9PM – People begin to arrive for Cocktail Party

People might think about bringing snacks or booze for the night.

Midnight (or maybe a little later) – I make eggs for those who want them.

Come to part of it, all of it, or if none it.

Check out some of the work I have done for my photography project so far.

    http://home.comcast.net/~faltor42/documentary/boardgames.htm

Note: These are work prints and not final prints.

    See you there.

A Photo Documentary on Board Games (Participation Requested)

As many of you may know I am photographer.  I often take classes down at the PCNW.  This quarter I am taking a class on Documentary Photography.  As such I needed to select a topic that would both be interesting and appropriate.

I have recently begun to think about Board Games as shared experience.  A way for people to come together and interact.  It is entertaining and I believe better for you, than getting together to watch a movie or TV.  It is a shared experience that can bring people together.  It can bridge gaps in culture, generation, or social class.  I am not saying that you can solve the world’s problems by playing board games, but I am saying that with the surge in “alone together” activities such as movies, TV, video games, and those pesky books that there needs to be more earnest social interaction..

That having been said, I am trying to capture both the social aspect of the game as well as those moments that are quintessential to any game.  The pondering of the perfect move, the success of a key strategy, or your crushing defeat.

In order to do this though, I need to photograph people playing games.  I don’t care who you are or what game you are playing.  I can structure my shots so that those people who don’t want to photographed won’t be.  I can be as discreet or participatory as necessary.

Anyone who is in a shot will have the final say on whether or not I can show the picture.

If you are playing board games anytime in the next 8 weeks and you are willing to allow me to come and take some pictures I would be most appreciative.  Please respond here or call me (if you know the number).  In addtion, I will be announcing some board game nights for those who wish to participate in either the games or the photography.

I have not hung out with many of you in some time and I think this would be a great way to re-connect.
